Ried Master Plan Niederwangen, BE
Everyone lives on the green: by closely interweaving the landscape and the built environment, the master plan enables every apartment to have a direct connection to the green space.
The landscape assumes the overriding role of the public space that binds them together. The uniform and extremely careful planning of the green space is of predominant public interest and central to the quality of the estate. While it is desirable to develop in versatile building phases, the green space must be designed as a whole and from a single source at the beginning of the process.
The topography is the formative element of the urban framework. All seven settlement fingers follow the natural topography, minimizing unnecessary earth movements. The hamlet, the slope and the forest-fringed plateau of Taubentränki are combined into a public green zone, penetrating the center of the settlement and making the singularity of the topography tangible.
