Gretag Areal Regensdorf, ZH

The Gretag site lies between growing city and agglomeration. The Gretag aspires to be an attractive living and working environment that is diverse, flexible and on the move. The proto-urban character finds expression in the skillful mix of newly introduced urban qualities in a heterogeneous commercial environment.

The buildings, all located on the Furttal Promenade, are specific in their mission, use and expression. While the high-rise buildings pursue a classical architectural theme with micro- and macro-living, we propose a contemporary timber construction for the co-living building, its basic grid coordinating with the parking garage below. The continuous basic structure allows a high degree of flexibility and mix of uses. Two identical but separate building sections divide the commercial and residential use. Open-plan commercial spaces, as well as a range of different flats, can be easily inserted into the structure depending on usage requirements, lighting, orientation, and noise pollution.
